The Deadlift is a powerlifting exercise designed to strengthen the lower back, glutes, hamstrings and quads as well as forearms, This is one of the core powerlifting exercises along with Bench Press and Squats.
Start with a loaded barbell set on the floor. Squat in front if it with your feet shoulder width apart. Grab it overhand with your hands just outside your legs, your shoulders over or just behind the bar, your arms straight, and your back flat.
Finish by standing up and lifting the weight straight off the ground. The key is to push with yoru heels and pull the weight towards your body as you stand.
This exercise is shown performed with a barbell. It can also be performed in a variety of other ways. It is designed to be performed with heavy weights to develop mass and strength.
